Korean 19
06/04/2026
It's been about a month since the last entry, I remmebered this time that I'm supposed to be writing these.
The past couple of weeks have had their ups and downs. One thing I noticed is an extention of last post-That my Korean pronunciation is pretty bad, and I can't tell the difference between some of the consonants and the double consonants. However, I do see a light at the end of the tunnel. I was listening to a Korean podcast, and I noticed that I was able to truly differentiate the words. I didn't quite understand it all, but I could clearly tell when the words began and when they ended. It felt strange. But I'm excited where this will lead in the coming months.
The first two sessions this week did not go well. I felt like I wasn't able to speak well or formulate my thoughts. Additionally, I wasn't able to understand a lot of the conversation between us. However, the last two sessions went quite well. It almost felt like I could actually speak in the conversation. I was able to hear, understand, and even if I couldn't fully understand, I could figure it out with context clues or asking clarifying questions.
What caused that to happen? I think it was two main things. I had better sleep in the last two sessions, and I wrote some journal entries before the sessions. I think doing the journal entries helps me to prime my brain for what we're going to talk about. So it is easier to recall what certain words mean. If I go in blind, it is kind of hard to be ready for everything.
My goals for the next few weeks are to write more journal entries, at least once a week, and to continue to intentionally practice pronunciation of the difficult Korean consonants.
